| | | Last spring, Portland Public Schools in Oregon launched a DBQ Essay Contest for 8th-grade students, and it was such a hit that they've decided to make it an annual tradition. In this video, you'll hear from the top three winners and a few of the runner-ups as they share their conclusions on the question: How Free Were Black Americans in the North?
